Spiritual Life Overview

Encountering God

We want all students to encounter Jesus Christ on a personal level during their school career.

Our faculty members are dedicated educators who serve as caring, loving models of Christianity. They mentor students and help form their character.

  • All students take a Bible class each school year helping them to understand the principles of God’s Word. These classes form a basis for formulating a solid Christian worldview.

  • In middle and high school, students also learn to defend their faith by studying other religions and their respective philosophies, contrasting other worldviews with Christianity.

Students at Novi Christian Academy know that God has a plan and purpose for their life.  A strong dedication to Christ is evident among the students.

Scripture states that respect for the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Novi Christian Academy believes that in order to develop wise young people who will excel in life we must start with the solid foundation.
The best way to do that is to read widely, study deeply, and discuss broadly…

Instilling Godly Wisdom

Spiritual Life High School Retreat

Each year, students 9th-12th grade are given the opportunity to experience our High School Spiritual Life Retreat.  This is a three day, two night trip to a nearby Conference Center, located in Hillsdale, MI.

The retreat takes place the first week of school every year, and is a wonderful time for students to make new friends and renew friendships from the previous year.  We view this time as crucial for setting the spiritual tone for the new school year.  A special speaker and music leaders are invited, and a spiritual life theme is given to the week.  Each student is encouraged to introspect on what their own spiritual goals are for the school year, and to make a commitment to their own spiritual growth.

While Bible curriculum is a core academic subject for all grades, K-12, we feel it is important to include a special time within the school year to focus on the spiritual life of the student. As a result, we host two “Spiritual Emphasis Weeks” each year.  One is designed to meet the needs of grades K-5, and the other for grades 6-12.  These special chapel services take place each day for the designated week.

Special care is given to invite innovative speakers and music directors who are experienced with the age groups involved.  These gifted leaders provide an extended time of worship and practical themed messages which make the Word of God come alive to our students.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”  Matthew 7: 24 NIV

Spiritual Emphasis Week

Weekly Chapels

Corporate worship is an important part of a NCA education.  Every week, each student participates in an age-appropriate chapel service designed to bring students together in their love of the Lord and in worshipping and studying His Word.

Classroom Prayer
Prayer begins each day in each classroom, and is woven throughout the day.  Students learn to love communicating with God, and seeing Him work in their lives through answered prayer.

Daily Staff Devotions/Prayer
Prayer starts the day for our faculty as well. We meet each morning for a short devotion and prayer for our students and their families.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”    Philippians 4:6 NIV
